I lost all of his closest friends and family members due to gang violence, sickness, and other traumatic accidents. I overcame shootouts every night, not being able to eat or sleep, and being less fortunate than other kids. The internal struggles I faced, including bouts of depression and suicidal thoughts, amidst the backdrop of external challenges. I share how the pressures of life in Chicago coupled with the absence of a strong support network that led me to confront my inner demons and find the resilience to keep moving forward.
