＜p＞David, being one of the eight sons of Jesse that was left in ignominy. David was the youngest son of Jesse and began his life as a shepherd. David came into the scene when God rejected king Saul and needed someone to replace him. He was abandoned in the forest by his father, “There remains yet the youngest, and there he is, keeping the sheep.” (1 Sam.16:11). He was anointed as king by prophet Samuel when he was around 17 years old. His first feat was the killing of the dreadful Goliath that sparked envy of Saul＜/p＞ ＜p＞Although, Samuel anointed David king, it took David to wear after fourteen years. He became king of Israel at age 30. Through the grace of God, he survived Saul’s threats to his life and upon the death of Saul, he ascended the throne, thus becoming the second king of Israel. He displayed a rare reverence for anointed king Saul, despite having several opportunities to sniffle life from him.
