＜p＞It took Joyce nine difficult years to get this now-classic collection of short stories published, at last, in 1914. They show Irish middle class life in and around Dublin in the early years of the twentieth century.＜br /＞ Each tale includes an epiphany: a moment (often understated) where a character experiences self-understanding or illumination.
