The seventh volume consists solely of ＜em＞The Devil's Dictionary＜/em＞.＜/p＞ ＜p＞Bierce has been criticized by his contemporaries and later scholars for deliberately pursuing improbability and for his penchant toward "＜a href="en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plot_twist"＞trick endings＜/a＞".
